Everybody knows that the Friday after Thanksgiving is commonly referred to as Black Friday. Since many people have both Thursday and Friday off from work, they use Friday to get a lot of holiday shopping done; after all, shopping is the great American pass time! What better way to burn all those extra calories from laying around feasting on turkey with all the trimmings and watching football on TV the day before. Shoppers head out as early as 6:00am to department stores and shopping malls to get first pick on big sale items. Most stores open extra early to greet the early birds and stay open late to get the most out of the hysterical shopping frenzy. The stores often offer some very enticing deals and specials. They play on the fear the shoppers have of the shelves emptying out before they get the best items on sale, but little do they know it is all a game the stores are playing as there are plenty of goods to refill the shelves over and over.

These days the Monday after Thanksgiving is also referred to as Cyber Monday. This is the day hyped for on line shopping deals for those who want to continue shopping even at work. Of course, if you like shopping on line, any day is the day to shop on line You can always save more if you use promo codes, free shipping and rebates. Some sites like DirtDevil.com even include shortcuts to other shopping sites.
