Can't Help, but Cry!

I have been watching these movie marathon and it is a series at the Hallmark channel from 11:00 am; and it is now 6:09 in the evening. I can not help but cry. These movies are for General Patronage and I am loving it. There would be six movies and I am done watching the two; I am watching the third one, two more to go! I am glad Matt is busy with job search and my son playing and coloring and I have time for myself while blogging here and there a little bit. We are about to go and buy a scanner and grocery shopping. We would probably dine out tonight since I have no time to cook. Not sure yet where. I'll be back blogging later. The movies titles are : Love Comes Softly, Loves Abiding Joy, Love's Unending Legacy, Love's Unfolding Dream, Love's Long Journey and oh, I forgot the other one...will try to remember it...hehehe :-)! Anyway, these are very touching movies that keeps making me cry.

Famous Fathers in Their Own Words

Take a look at some celebrity dads’ thoughts on family and fatherhood:

Ryan Phillippe, dad to Ava, 8, and Deacon, 4: “Being a father is by far my greatest achievement and the most important thing about me.” (source)

The Office’s Rainn Wilson, dad to Walter, 3: “Absolutely. I am a father, and I know best. If there’s any question, just ask me.” (source)

Ben Affleck, dad to Violet, 2: “I love being a father. It’s wonderful. It’s changed my life. It all sounds like platitudes and clichés, and that’s because they’re the truth.” (source)

Patrick Dempsey, dad to Talula, 6, and twins Darby and Sullivan, 1: “It’s a lot easier the second time around because you know what to expect. The first time around, you’re panicked. If they’re crying you want them to sleep, and if they’re sleeping you think they’re dead. It’s terrible!” (source)

Click on the link to see what Brad Pitt, Joel Madden, and Seal have to say about fatherhood…

Brad Pitt, dad to Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, almost 3, Shiloh, 2: “[Being a parent] is the most fun I’ve ever had and also the biggest pain … I’ve ever experienced. I love it and can’t recommend it any more highly — although sleep is nonexistent.” (source)

Joel Madden, dad to Harlow, 5 months: “Being a father is nothing you can plan for. You’ve got to take it one day at a time, and there’s no manual or anything like that. It’s not a conscious change, it just happens to you all of a sudden. We had Harlow, and suddenly our priorities changed.” (source)

Seal, dad to Leni, 4, Henry, 2, and Johan, 1: “You just do the best that you can. And, as a parent, you know it when you’re not doing your best.” (source)

Mother My Guiding Light

Amy of Amiable Amy tagged me with this wonderful tag, a tribute to mothers. Thanks, dear for this one. I am glad I can finally write something about my mother.

I love my mother even though I didn't grow up in her care until I turned seven. My grandparents took care of me when I was still a baby because my mother suffered from what they call “ Baby Blue”. She couldn't take care of me.

Here is my beloved mother. Late last year she had a mild stroke due to her uncontrollable high blood pressure. I thanked God and her doctor for saving her life. I think it was a miracle that she didn't get any complications considering she lives most of her life with high blood pressure. She is better now except occasionally she feels weak and tired due to the side effects of the medicine she is taking.

You bet, I miss her so much wishing I was there when she was hospitalized and now that she is recovering. I talk to her and my father on the phone because I feel much better that using the internet. She will be turning 68 this May. I really admire my mother for her devotion to my father and us. Her love, sacrifice and support is unbelievable. What I am today is because of her. I love you, mother!

My only wished for her and my father is for them to live a longer life so they can come here stay with us for as long as they wanted to. But I doubt that they will stay longer than three months.

Lose Weight Using Easy Activities

I think if you try these five simple changes will help you shed excess pounds. I am going to try it to see if these really work. Who knows, there is no harm in trying, right?

1. Jot it down: According to a Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research study of more than 2,000 dieters, the greatest predictor of weight-loss success was whether the dieter kept a food diary. In fact, it trumped exercise, age, and even starting body mass index.
2. Keep it cold: Because colder temperatures increase your metabolism, keeping your home comfortably chilly may help you to lose weight. Another cool trick: Add ice to your drinks, or suck on ice cubes throughout the day.
3. Blot it out: Blotting your pizza with a paper towel can save you several grams of fat and as many as 150 calories per slice. This may not seem like much, but if you did this once a week for a year, you would lose roughly two pounds.
4. Go for the gum: According to a 2007 Scottish study presented at the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Obesity Society, chewing gum for 15 minutes after meals can promote weight loss. As the researchers explained, the act of chewing reduces overall calorie consumption and minimizes cravings.
5. Be fidgety: In a 2005 Mayo Clinic study, researchers found that overweight people tend to sit, while lean ones tend to be restless. In fact, those who have trouble sitting still can burn an extra 350 calories a day—about three pounds every month.

Need Privacy When Using Your Internet?

As a blogger, I always want to secure web traffic on my blogs and use my internet the way I want it without exposing my privacy, I don't have any idea how to do it. The only way I know is through anti virus software. But I realized now based on my experienced that it isn't enough. I thought there must be something out there that will help protect my privacy, I just need to find it. So, here it is, the VPN Tunnel service that disguises all of your Internet traffic as secure web traffic, tunneling it into secure servers which is the opposite of using proxy. Want to know more about it? Then, you better visit their site now!

Amazing Deals on Name Brand Shoes!

Some people tend to buy brand name items like clothes, jewelries, purses, sunglasses and shoes. I can understand them because I myself sometimes do that. The main reason is that even though they are pricey, they are also quality made and very stylish. Those don't, I can also understand. But, prices of shoes are not always high. Reasons Why We Need to Break Bottled Water Addiction

After I got a kidney transplant, my doctor and nurse told me to be very careful with what I put in my mouth and that includes water, foods and raw foods. I particularly paid attention with water, so I started drinking bottled water only. We even bought water dispenser to be sure that the water I am drinking is safe. Then I came across Quality Health News that talks about bottled water whether it is really safe or not! This article caught my attention and I would like to share it with you!

Certain groups, like Think Outside the Bottle, say our country needs to break its bottled water addiction. Here, six reasons why you should kick the plastic habit.

1. Water and oil do mix. Although these two liquids may not get along in the kitchen, oil powers the bottled water industry. The Earth Policy Institute estimates that it takes up to 1.5 million barrels of oil to power the plants that make the plastic for the bottles-that's enough to power 100,000 cars for a year.

2. Natural spring water? The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) estimates that as much as 25 percent of bottled water comes from municipal sources, a.k.a. tap water. Be sure to check the label and cap of the bottle. If it says "from a community water system" or "from a municipal source," it originates from tap. What's more, the water doesn't always come from the branded source. For example, the water bottled for the Deer Park brand (which originated in Deer Park, Maryland) is taken from counties in Florida and Pennsylvania.

3. Bottled water doesn't go green. The interesting paradox that exists in bottle water consumption is the image it portrays as being healthy and clean, but it is anything but good for the environment.
4. Bottled water gets a pass. Despite astronomical sales, bottled water plants go relatively unchecked. The FDA, which is responsible for regulating bottled water, admits that "bottled water plants generally are assigned low priority for inspection."

5. There's something in the water. The water you're drinking may not be as clean as you think it is. In 2007, the FDA recalled Jermuk bottled water sold in California after finding trace amounts of arsenic, a naturally occurring chemical that can be toxic at very high levels.

6. Support for the tap. Contrary to popular opinion, tap water isn't necessarily healthier than bottled water. After conducting an extensive, four-year review of the bottled water industry, the NRDC concluded that bottled water is not any safer or cleaner than tap water. If taste is the issue, opt for home filters. Depending on your needs, you can choose to install one on your refrigerator or on your faucet or you can simply store a pitcher of filtered water in the fridge. Ultimately, filtering your own tap water can save you money and help the environment.

Got Allergy

I didn't know what happened, but when I woke up this morning I have a terrible headache and my nose was running. I feel like I am suffering from sinusitis. I still have it. Then, when hubby phoned me today from work, I told him what I was feeling, he said I must be having an allergy. Weird because the last time I remembered having allergy was when Jacob was 6 months old and it was back in Texas. Anyway, while I am typing this, my nose is running again. Oh well, got to go downstair now and start preparing dinner.

Start Living an Opiates-Free Life!

When I gave birth to my son, I went to a premature labor and that was the reason why he was born early. He was so little only 4.3 pounds. He has to stay at NICU so he would gain weight. I have to go home three days after he was born. It was very frustrating going home empty handed. We visited him for the first few days and then, I got an infection from the surgery they performed (c-section). So, I ended back to the hospital. They tried anti biotic but the pain and swelling didn't go away. They did series of tests and decided I need another surgery. The surgery went well, but I was still having high fever and pain on the side where they did the surgery. They put tubes in my nose, abdomen and a catheter. Oh well, to make a story short, I stayed at the hospital for a month too taking pain reliever called vicodin. Thank goodness I didn't get addicted to it.

Anyway, if you or someone you know suffer from vicodin dependency, there is a place who can help him/her. The Opiates.com, does the vicodin detox in a safe, humane and successful manner. Each treatment program is customized exclusively for patients battling physical dependency, taking into account their unique needs and goals. Their staff at Domus builds up and encourages their patients, identifying and treating underlying issues such as undiagnosed depression, substance abuse and chronic pain. Their aftercare and transition treatment center, they are able to offer our patients a full-service safe haven, and top-notch professionals to guide them through the transition to an opiate-free life. Step Stools, Jake's Helper!

My son's four step stools are his helper in finding food, brushing his teeth and washing his hand and also in reaching for the things he is not supposed to touch and put his hands on.

This morning when I woke up, I have found my son seating in the couch watching T.V. and eating crackers. T'was his breakfast with a glass of milk. Then, I went straightway to the kitchen and found two step stools. I didn't ask him because I figured out he used them in finding foods. He is really getting independent. My poor little man; he didn't want to bother me, so he went ahead and find something to eat. Well, crackers are not enough for breakfast, so I asked him if he is still hungry and he said "no". After half an hour, he asked for hot cereal, so I made him some and also gave him apple sauce and juice. Isn't step stools a big help or what?

What Kind of Kid Were You?

You Were an Inspired Kid

When you were a kid, you tended to see things from a unique, inventive perspective.

In class, you were either asking lots of questions or getting lost in a daydream.

You excelled at brainstorming. People were always amazed with what you came up with.

You didn't do as well with structured activities. Giving you freedom was the only way to make you shine.

Done with the Bills!

At last, I am done paying bills *whew*. For some people who are not paying their bills themselves, they will think it is easy. But not for me at least. Aside from writing payments through checks, we still need to balance the checks; and that is the hard part. What a relieve for hubby not having to deal with it again. Yup, before I was thinking about why he kept complaining a lot about it. Now I know why :-)! It gives me headache, too!
