Happy Mother's Day...My Ladies Friends!

Mother's Day is a perfect time to honor Mom for the years of love and childrearing, so show your appreciation for Mom's hard work and patience with a poem. Personally-written poems come from the heart, and your Mom will be truly touched by the effort and thought that went into writing her own special Mother's Day poem.

"Happy Mother's Day" means more

Than have a happy day.
Within those words lie lots of things
We never get to say.

It means I love you first of all,
Then thanks for all you do.
It means you mean a lot to me,
And that I honor you.

But most of all, I guess it means
That I am thinking of
Your happiness on this, your day,
With pleasure and with love
.

Pretty Glass Tiles in My Kitchen

When we did the renovation with our house almost three years ago, the most extensive labor we did was our kitchen. We totally opened it to make it bigger. We put new cabinetry, kitchen drawers, new sink, counter top, flooring, paints, and appliances. We also scraped the pop corn ceiling and painted it to look new. My favorite thing in our kitchen was the glass tile we put on as a black splash. It is water resistant, and the I like the rich look of it. If you are planning of some home improvement and you need glass tiles for your kitchen, and bathrooms, you better visit wholesalersusain.com for they they huge selections of glass tiles and even mosaic tiles if you prefer one. Right now, they have a sale going on and if you place domestic order over $100 the shipping will be free, same thing with the UPS ground shipping.

I Don't Want to Wear Short Pants, Mommy!

As always, my son got up this morning for school without us waking him up. He always have to wait at least five minutes though before jumping out of bed. There are days that he said he doesn't want to go to school, but ended up going anyway. This morning, I told him to wear short instead of pants since the weather here has been warm lately. For some reason, he didn't want to wear a short. It took a lot of convincing between me and Daddy before he decided to wear it. Maybe because he has gotten used to wearing pants because he has been wearing pants ever since the weather got cold last year. I am glad he agreed to wear short today.

How to Avoid Jet Lag?

Many travelers lose the enjoyment of a day or more of their vacation because of their inability to avoid jet lag. Don't let this happen to you when you visit Hawaii. Here is how to avoid jet lag.

Here's How:

  1. Eliminate stress and anxiety as much as possible before you fly. Get plenty of exercise before your trip and try to avoid getting a cold.
  2. Eat plenty of starch, carbohydrates and greens before you travel.
  3. Get plenty of sleep the night before your trip and wear comfortable clothing during your flight.
  4. Set your watch to the time of your destination (Hawaii or home) before you board the plane.
  5. Drink lots of water before, during and after your flight -- 8 to 12 ounces every hour is recommended. The dry air in plane cabins causes dehydration.
  6. Yawn or chew gum to alleviate the pressure build-up in your ears, especially during takeoff and landing.
  7. Avoid alcohol, coffee or other caffeine products before and during your flight.
  8. Eat meals at times that are as close as possible to meal times at your destination.
  9. Consider carefully whether you wish to use a product like No Jet-Lag (homeopathic) or melatonin. Be sure to read up on any product before you consider using it.
  10. Use earphones to listen to music or earplugs to reduce cabin noise, which tends to be stressful and brings on fatigue. Kick off your shoes and try to get some sleep.
  11. Get up and walk around the cabin when possible, or do some exercises in your seat to stretch your muscles and keep your circulation flowing.
  12. During extended layovers on long flights, see if a shower is available. A shower can help ease your muscles and make you feel much better.
  13. When you arrive in Hawaii, try to stay awake until your normal bedtime (local time). This will get you on Hawaiian time very quickly so that your first full day is not wasted.

Tips:

  1. What you do before your trip is as important as what you do during the flight. Avoiding jet lag begins days, even weeks, before your trip.
  2. Rest, drink water and keep your blood flowing -- the three key things to keep in mind.
  3. Try to adjust to the local time of your destination when you begin your flight.

All About Jet Lag

What is jet lag?

Jet lag, also called desynchronosis, is a temporary disorder that causes fatigue, insomnia, and other symptoms as a result of air travel across time zones.

What are other symptoms of jet lag?

Besides fatigue and insomnia, a jet lag sufferer may experience anxiety, constipation, diarrhea, confusion, dehydration, headache, irritability, nausea, sweating, coordination problems, and even memory loss. Some individuals report additional symptoms, such as heartbeat irregularities and increased susceptibility to illness.

What is a time zone?

A time zone is a geographical region which has the same time everywhere within it. The world has 24 time zones, one for each hour in the day. Each zone runs from north to south in strips that are approximately 1,000 miles (1,600 kilometers) wide. (The actual width of each zone varies to accommodate political and geographical boundaries.) As the earth rotates, dawn occurs at a set hour in one time zone, then an hour later in the time zone immediately to the west and so on through the 24-hour cycle. Thus, in the U.S., when it is 6 a.m. in the Eastern Time Zone, it is 5 a.m. in the Central Zone, 4 a.m. in the Mountain Zone, and 3 a.m. in the Pacific Zone.

Why does jet lag occur?

The cause of jet lag is the inability of the body of a traveler to immediately adjust to the time in a different zone. Thus, when a New Yorker arrives in Paris at midnight Paris time, his or her body continues to operate on New York time. As the body struggles to cope with the new schedule, temporary insomnia, fatigue, irritability, and an impaired ability to concentrate may set in. The changed bathroom schedule may cause constipation or diarrhea, and the brain may become confused and disoriented as it attempts to juggle schedules.

How does the body keep time?

A tiny part of the brain called the hypothalamus acts like an alarm clock to activate various body functions such as hunger, thirst, and sleep. It also regulates body temperature, blood pressure, and the level of hormones and glucose in the bloodstream. To help the body tell the time of day, fibers in the optic nerve of the eye transmit perceptions of light and darkness to a timekeeping center within the hypothalamus. Thus, when the eye of an air traveler perceives dawn or dusk many hours earlier or later than usual, the hypothalamus may trigger activities that the rest of the body is not ready for, and jet lag occurs.

Pamper Yourself at Chicago Day Spa

More that two weeks ago, I went to the Philippines to attend my grandmother's funeral. Even though I didn't do much during my stay there, I felt very tired and exhausted when I get back home. I think it was because of the travel and the long flights back and forth. I feel like I need to relax and treat myself to a day spa. My Aunt teased me the day before my flight back home. She was telling me about how happy and relax she felt after her son treat her to a day spa. She said that I should try this as soon as I get home. She was right, I should go and treat myself for once. A lot of times, I am so busy with my responsibilities at home and family, church commitments, and blogging that I forget to give myself a break. Once of these days I will need to go to a salon and treat myself to a relaxing spa. Anyway, if you are in the mood for relaxation and is living in Chicago, there is a place called Tiffani KimInstitute. They do massage treatment. Chicago day spa provides services for you where you can relax. The owner wants to share all her experiences and success in life and that is the reason why she opened the Tiffani Kim Institute Medical Wellness Spa where they also offer acupuncture, internal medicine, dermatology services, and of course, spa. Pamper yourself from head to toe by going to this place. Can you imagine that they also offer services for men's spa and teens spa, plus botox and bridal parties? What are you waiting for? Visit their website now and book your appointment with them. Go, have fun as you pamper yourself!

I thought I'm Over it!

I thought I was over with the jet lag, but I was wrong. I found myself sleeping in the day time and wide awake at night time. My husband told me to go to bed anyway, even though I am not sleepy. Well, I tried but it didn't work. I think it will take awhile before my schedule of sleep will be back to normal. So I told my husband to bear with me for it is not easy for me, too! Catching up with my blogs are also affected by it. I am thinking of taking sleeping pills to see if it helps :-). Anyway, bear with me, friends....will be visiting your blogs as often as I could.

Advance Restaurant Finance

During my recent visit to Philippines, I realized that even though the country is also affected by recession, people still have the means to go to shopping malls and eat at fancy restaurants. It is obvious that businesses that involved foods like fast foods, restaurants and food supplier were not affected by economic crisis. Their businesses are still doing great. My dream of owning a restaurant someday has become stronger because of that. I just wish that someday, this dream of mine will be realized or will materialize. Putting up a business needs a capital. It will not succeed nor expand if there is no enough money to sustain it. I know that I needed Restaurant Funding if I were to start my own restaurant or buying a franchise such as fastfood chains. Anyway, if you are aspiring to own one, then you better contact ARF or Advance Restaurant Finance. They can help you by offering business loans and restaurant loan even when you have problems on credits. Don't worry about your application for it will be very simple and easy. No painful process like the traditional bank loans. They even offer flexibility option on financing, thus giving you full control of your business. What I like best is that they offer some competitive rates available in the market today. Having a good credit is a plus because you will get the lowest interest rates for your loan. If you have questions about it, you need to visit their website for more information regarding this offer.

Tips on How to Soothe Dry Parts of Your Body

Dry Skin Woes

Is your skin feeling dry and tight -- even itchy or flaky? Any number of things can strip your skin of its protective oils. The result: Everything from chapped lips and itchy skin to cracked heels. Relief is in your grasp. Use this pictorial guide to see top cold-weather threats to your skin and what you can do about them.

SOS for Chapped Lips

No one is immune from dry lips in winter! Here’s how to cope: Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and use a humidifier at home. Liberally apply beeswax or petroleum jelly to your lips. Put on lip balm or lipstick with sunscreen every time you go outside. Avoid being in the sun and wind too much. Don’t lick your lips -- it may feel better briefly, but it only makes chapped lips worse.

Heal Cracked Heels

Painful, cracked heels are a common skin condition, especially in winter. They are often caused by dry skin. Having calluses around the rim of the heel can complicate the problem. In some cases, dry cracked feet can lead to infection or make walking painful. Keep feet healthy by marinating cracked heels in petroleum jelly, covering them with plastic wrap, and putting on a pair of socks overnight. You’ll see improvement in three nights.

Give Dry Hands Extra Care

Your hands may be hard hit by the cold winter air. Washing your hands frequently helps eliminate cold and flu germs, but it also increases dryness. And unless you wear gloves every time you go out, hands may be more exposed to cold than other parts of your body. Give dry hands some extra TLC by using a glycerin-based moisturizer when you wake up, before you go to bed, and any time your hands feel dry throughout the day.

Use Super-Fatted Soap

The same products that keep your face looking fresh in the spring and summer may cause skin problems during winter. Choose a gentle, super-fatted, fragrance-free soap -- bar or liquid -- for cleansing. Super-fatted means the soap is loaded with oils. Use a non-astringent toner, or just skip it altogether. If skin is dry, moisturizers that contain urea, dimethicone, glycerin, lanolin, or mineral oil can be good bets.

Choose a Winter Moisturizer

Should you change your moisturizer? Maybe. If you usually use a light lotion, try a heavier cream, at least on dry skin patches. Ointments -- like petroleum jelly -- have more oil than creams or lotions. That makes them more greasy, too, so they may be best for feet and body. Minimize the greasy feeling by using a very small amount and gently but thoroughly rubbing it into skin. Apply after a warm shower (more on that later).

Decode Moisturizer Choices

Humectants -- like urea, glycerin, hyaluronic acid, propylene glycol -- absorb water from the air. They are oil-free. Emoillients -- like baby or mineral oil, plant oils (like jojoba oil), petroleum jelly, lanolin, stearic acid -- replace oils in the skin. Many moisturizers contain a combination. You may want to skip some anti-aging moisturizers in winter. Those that contain retinoids can further irritate already dry, sensitive skin.

Clear Away Dead Skin First

To get the most out of your moisturizer, exfoliate. Clearing away dead skin cells lets a moisturizer better penetrate dry skin. Exfoliate gently with a moisturizer that contains lactic acid or salicylic acid. Some exfoliants can be irritating -- especially in winter -- so try them on a small patch of skin first. If your skin is really dry or irritated, ask your doctor before starting a new skin care product or regimen.

Enroll Now and Help Save Lives!

When I went to the Philippines two weeks ago, I have found out that my cousin just delivered a baby girl! I became an Aunt again. It was a lovely healthy baby whom they named “Heidi”. This is their second child. My cousin and I have a good talk, talking about the future and what to do best for their family; the subject come up of umbilical cord blood and saving it. I mentioned with them about Cryo-Cell is the best option they should consider for this very important decision they will be making. Anyway, when I first got pregnant with our daughter, my husband and I decided to make an investment to save the umbilical cord blood of our child. This way we have the extra security through Cryo-Cell for our future babies. Cord Blood Bank is pioneering the way in research, to find more solutions to preserve stem cells in a noncontroversial way. Cord blood is just the first step in new medical advancements. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to preserve your baby's cord blood.

Are you interested in saving your little ones umbilical cord blood? Why not visit cryo-cell.com for more detailed information? Right now, they have a special weekend offer where you will get a free Baby Bjorn from C'elle. All you have to do is enroll today for it will expires tomorrow, Sunday, 19th of April. What are you waiting for? Check their website out now!

"My children are the most precious gifts that I will ever have and I want to do everything I can to make sure they are well. While I was pregnant with my first child, I would see articles and ads about cord blood and it bothered me that it was so expensive but what if I one day needed this blood. The reality of having only one chance or it really went in the garbage kept me wondering if I would regret not investing. What if he had cancer or his dad or I were sick, would that blood have been the cure? Through research, I came across Cryo-Cell International, Inc., a company with the most reasonable rates and the assurance of two holding facilities.

When I was pregnant with my second child, we wondered if one bank was enough? Finances were tighter and should we spend the money? Then we realized that his brothers blood might not match for the new baby. The next day, stories were breaking about how Cord blood had saved or changed the lives of children, one cancer, one cerebral palsy. Then we discovered that a friend was diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma. He didn't bank his daughters blood and wished he had. Three years prior, I lost a friend to renal cancer when she was 29. We felt like it was our answer.

We are just beginning to see miracles that this blood can bring. We have two "life insurance policies", that is how we look at it. If anyone in the family gets ill, there is a chance that the blood could save our lives. If we don't use it, then it is there for our son's children."

Sincerely,
mother of Parker and Davis
