Trent Jordan, Vancouver's most accomplished and sought after tour guide wants to support the 2010 Blogathon in Vancouver. The event, which is celebrated annually, will be held on August 21st, 2010. The Blogathon is considered to be one of the most exciting events that bloggers can participate in throughout Vancouver, Trent Jordan believes. Bloggers who participate will be asked to blog for 24 hours straight and post an original post every half hour. The purpose of the Blogathon is to raise funds for various charities throughout Canada.
The Blogathon has been held annually since 2000 and was recently changed from July to August. Previously the event was simply held online through web pages and social networking sites. This year, however, Vancouver will be one of two sites that will hold on-location blogging events. To give you a rough idea of just how effective this Blogathon can be, consider that in 2009 there were just over 30 participants. Those 30+ bloggers raised nearly $20,000 for their charities. Most bloggers are able to raise around $500 throughout the day while some raise even more.
Whether or not you live in Vancouver, Trent Jordan invites you to join in this cause. While Trent Jordan is considered to be Vancouver's ultimate tour guide, he also wants everyone to get involved with charity work. In 2010 the event will hopefully be even larger than ever before. This is the reason it has been pushed back to August, in order to spread the word. If in Vancouver, Trent Jordan would like you to at least come and support those bloggers who are participating in the event. The 20-24 hour marks of blogging can become extremely tiresome for those involved and they can use all of the support we can give them.
Several sponsors and local organizations should also be on site to provide snacks and various forms of entertainment.
